Jun 29, 2010  - pinalcountyaz.gov

I will be working as the Pinal County Sheriff's Office - Public Information Officer and Grant Administrator.   I have been working in law enforcement and public information since 1991.   Lt. Villar has done an amazing job during the past 18 months and I am planning to continue where she left off. My normal work hours will be Monday - Friday from 8 am to 5 pm.   I know that your deadlines don't always fit within those hours so if needed, I am available by cell phone (520-705-8124) or email (tim.gaffney@pinalcountyaz.gov) after hours.   In return for making myself available to you during any hours that you need information, I ask that you please continue to have open communications with me.   Before you report that PCSO did not reply or provide information for your story, please give me every opportunity to obtain what you are looking for.   Those of you who I have worked with in the past know that I will make every effort possible to get you any information that you need.

During major events, I will provide initial alerts through the Arizona Department of Public Safety - Media Alert System or through mass email.   If you have anybody that works in your newsrooms that you would like added to my email distribution list please send me their address.

I am working to create a system so that you can log your Public Records Requests on-line directly with PCSO Records.   As soon as the glitches are worked out of the system I will let you know.

If there is anything that I can do to assist you with stories or help make your job easier please let me know.

During the past 18 months, the Pinal County Sheriff's Office has undergone significant organizational changes to improve both the safety of our members and to provide improved service for our residents. The changes that have already been implemented have proven to be very beneficial to both.

In an effort to further improve the service we provide, Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu has announced the creation of a "Community Services Lieutenant" position. The position will be headed by Lieutenant Tamatha Villar. Lt. Villar will have supervision over our Posse, Reserve, School Resource Officer, Victim's / Volunteer Services and Mounted Unit. Sheriff Babeu stated, "Lt. Villar has proven herself throughout her career as a leader. She will build a stronger volunteer base which will allow us to provide improved law enforcement services to our Pinal County families. I want to double the size of our Posse and have a large company of Reserve Deputies. This is an important goal of mine and that is why I selected Lt. Villar to make these priorities a reality."

The Four Most Powerful Words in the Criminal Courthouse

Mark Bennett

Try this:

Stand up. Raise one foot off the ground. Now shift your weight forward. Don’t set your raised foot down. What happens?

You fall down.

But if you do the same thing and set the raised foot down to stop your fall, you take a step. Raise the other foot off the ground, shift your weight forward, and set your raised foot down to catch you. String a series of these events together, and you’re moving across the ground.

Walking....
